CBC explained
What is cognitive behavioural coaching (CBC) and how does it work?
What it is
CBC is a solution/goal focused form of coaching grounded in theory and research which emphasises the use of techniques to aid individuals in achieving their goals. It is proactive in nature with an emphasis on a collaborative approach to achieve sustainable changes.
It is used to:
- Help manage pressure
- Enhance performance
- Improve psychological resilience
- Conquer blocks to change
- Increase problem solving skills
- Augment decision making processes
- Enhance general well-being.
How it works
Like CBT, CBC involves an assessment meeting to assess the presenting issues after which the steps to achieve specific goals are discussed. The aim in this coaching is for the individual to become their own self coach. The length of meetings varies and can be face to face, on the telephone or via Skype
